Barbara L. Stroud is a 1989 honors graduate from the University of Texas School of Law. She obtained her undergraduate degree from U.T. in psychology. She has worked as a trial attorney in Houston and Austin with a litigation ‘boutique’ firm, with the Texas Attorney General’s Tort Litigation Division and in her own small firm. She has practiced a wide variety of litigation on both sides of the docket, with an emphasis in personal injury litigation and medical malpractice. She has successfully argued appeals before the Texas Supreme Court and the Austin, Waco and Houston Courts of Appeals. She was board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law from 1995 until 2001.
Barbara has limited her practice to mediation since January 2008. She obtained her 40-hour Basic Mediation Training in 2007 at the Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution at the University of Texas School of Law. She obtained her 32-hour Divorce, SAPCR and Family Mediation Training in 2008 at the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center at the University of Houston Law Center. She has obtained approximately 50 additional hours of mediation training. She is a Credentialed Advanced Mediator by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association and is certified by the Association of Attorney-Mediators. She is a member of the Texas Association of Mediators, the Austin Association of Mediators, the Austin Bar Association (ADR and Solo/Small Firm sections) and the State Bar of Texas (ADR, Litigation and Family Law sections). Barbara regularly conducts volunteer mediations for the Austin Dispute Resolution Center, the Hays County Dispute Resolution Center, Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas and Travis County Settlement Week.
Barbara lives in Driftwood with her husband, Bob O'Boyle, and their two children.
Bob is a litigation partner with Strasburger & Price and is the past president of the Austin Bar Association and on the board of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas. Barbara serves on the Dripping Springs I.S.D. school board, the Hays County Dispute Resolution Center board and has served on the boards of more homeowners associations than she cares to recall.
